VisAcuity.com was founded in 2006 by Mark Levit, a University Professor and former New York advertising executive. Mark had a fascination with eyewear at an early age. As a youth, he was disappointed to learn he didn't need glasses, while everyone in his family wore them. But young Mark? They might as well have called him "Mr. 20/20" because he could spot a gnat on a bench at 100 yards! Lucky him!

Years later, with the onset of presbyopia necessitating he wear reading glasses for the first time, he was bummed by the lack of stylish options available. Mark searched around for cool styles and found a few here and there.

In the mid-90s, during the Internet boom, Levit was teaching at New York University. Alice, his Program Director, said he'd be teaching Internet Marketing next semester. Mark knew nothing about Internet Marketing, but Alice told him to learn about it.

So, Levit started attending tech meetings in New York, hobnobbing with young entrepreneurs who had raised millions from investors. He learned enough to teach undergrads and became fascinated with programming, even picking up some coding skills!

Students enjoyed his classes, prompting Mark to improve his teaching by setting up a lab to show them both the visible parts of websites and the behind-the-scenes workings. This led to the creation of VisAcuity.com, founded on his passion for eyewear, coupled with extensive marketing research and registering the name "VisAcuity." [One night he woke up from a deep sleep having put the phrase "visual acuity" together, he registered the name and had the original site designed and built.]

In 2006, VisAcuity.com became the 6th online reading glasses boutique. Today, there are hundreds, yet VisAcuity.com (now ReadingGlasses.CO/) remains a leading online boutique for cool reading glasses. The company stays ahead thanks to the energy of his students and Levit's marketing insights. Almost 20 years ago, the company moved to South Florida, and Mark began teaching a similar course at the University of Miami. He credits VisAcuity.com and the Internet for allowing him to make the move and would love to teach adults about establishing an online business. It provides a freedom that traditional jobs cannot.
